Iridium-Go Emails

We have a satellite internet connection on board that we can use to send/receive emails. If you’ve received one and want to reply or want to send one there a few simple rules to follow.

  1. Don’t send attachments. We probably won’t even get these on the boat and if we did it might take hours to download (satellite internet is slow and intermittent)

  2. Don’t press the reply button to reply to an email we sent. Instead compose a new email to the address and write your reply there. This is because using the reply button copies the text from all previous emails in the chain into your email, making it larger and more difficult to download for us

  3. Don’t send emails with embedded pictures (pictures in the text of any sort). Again this is for data reasons, it makes the email larger and harder for us to download.

  4. Don’t forward email chains. Compose a new email with the text you want to send.

Looking forward to hearing from you!
